London DevOps #70 - KPMG

October's meetup will be hosted at KPMG's office in Canary Wharf. Join us at KPMG for an evening of great talks about all things DevOps!

6:00pm - Arrival Drinks

6:50pm - Introductions - [Matt Saunders](https://www.linkedin.com/in/msaunders/)

7:00pm - Using Systems Thinking to Help DevOps Flourish - [Simon Copsey](https://www.linkedin.com/in/simoncopsey/)

DevOps is an important concept, but it can mean different things to different people. This ambiguity can make it even harder when adopting and expanding DevOps in any organisation.

In this talk we will explore the shifting assumptions to review when considering and adopting DevOps, and several thinking tools that can help in expanding its influence in any organisation.

These tools will draw on concepts from Lean, Agile and Theory of Constraints, and hopefully offer some renewed tactics for any organisational change efforts.

Simon is a Lead Transformation Consultant at OpenCredo, and is on a mission to help organisations understand and unwind complex, cross-functional obstacles that get in the way of their staff, and reduce the ability to serve their customers.

Simon’s career has taken him from being a developer in the trenches to helping various organisations take pragmatic steps from a place of chaos and paralysis, to one where it becomes a little easier to see the wood for the trees.

7:45pm - Food & Drinks Break

8:15pm - How KPMG Does Platform Engineering - [Angus Jellis](https://www.linkedin.com/in/angus-jellis/)

A run-through of how KPMG manages hundreds of AWS Accounts, Azure Subscriptions, and GCP projects in a secure, scalable, and optimised fashion.

Angus is a squad lead within KPMG UK's Platform Engineering practice. He's played a key role in the scaling of the practice from 10 DevOps Engineers, to \~30 Engineers of various disciplines, and specialises in the development of software to solve organisational challenges.

9:00pm - 9:30pm - Networking and Drinks

9.30pm - Onwards - After drinks at the BrewDog Canary Wharf, directly opposite KPMG’s offices.
