London DevOps #51 (Online)

About

London DevOps moves online this month with a revised schedule of two talks taking place over Zoom.

6:00pm - Introductions

6:15pm - The Ten Myths of Devops - Seth Vargo (Google)

Although not officially coined until 2009, DevOps ideals have been explicitly discussed since at least 2006. The term "DevOps" has gained increasing popularity across a variety of fields and industries. DevOps is not a development methodology or technology; DevOps is an ideology. It is a way to facilitate organizational prosperity and growth while increasing each individual employee's happiness along the way. As DevOps has gained in prominence, a gap has been created between the original definition of DevOps and this new "enterprise-ready" buzzword. In honor of the holiday season, Seth presents to us the 10 Myths of DevOps!

6:50pm - Kubernetes and Data Lakes: self-service infrastructure and automation to accelerate delivery - Adrian Ursu (Toyota Connected Europe)

DevOps is not just about building infrastructure and pipelines. It's about working together as a team, automating whenever possible, facilitating experiments and not being afraid to fail fast (and especially cheap).
Find out how empowering your developers with self-service infrastructure will enable faster delivery and will minimise failure in the places that matter.

Adrian is a Senior DevOps Engineer at Toyota Connected Europe.
