Let's Play! An Intro to Improv for Software Folks

Join Jean Lange, Remy Porter, and Jenny Manning for an introduction to improv. Improv is getting popular as a way to learn ad-hoc communication skills while making new friends. They'll be conducting a workshop that was wildly popular at Abstractions II in 2019 and at Codemash 2020.

Remember to wear comfortable clothes!

"""

Improv games ~ZIP!~ build skills like paying attention ~ZAP!~, switching roles ~ZOP!~, negotiating uncertainty ~...zzZIP?~, and celebrating failure ~ZOP! HURRAH!~

… and these skills build-up to real-world benefits like understanding the people around you better, working well in a group, and not being fazed by initial failures.

No experience is required, just readiness to jump in. You'll meet people, learn activities that you can take back to your teams/families/friends, practice and reflect on a variety of skills, and walk out full of joy and energy. Come play with us!

We'll break for lunch from 12:15 until around 12:45. Your prepaid registration covers lunch, coffee, some snacks, and a small stipend for those running the event. We can take walk-ins but cannot guarantee lunch for walk-ins! Can't afford it? Let us know and we'll figure it out.
