DevOps Playground: Hands-on with AWS - building with SQS, API, Lambda(in-person)

Hello everyone! This month we are going to be messing around with message queues using AWS SQS and how it can make building a scalable service-oriented application much easier! What’s on the docket for this Playground you ask? We will be:

1. Setting up an API using Amazon API Gateway
2. Setting up a message queue using SQS
3. Setting up Lambdas (Nodejs) to publish and poll messages from our message queue

This session is suitable for folks who have no previous experience with AWS or any other cloud service. Some coding experience will help you but don’t let that stop you if you are new to programming as we will be there to help you every step of the way!

For those coming to our meet-up for the first time. We believe in learning by doing, so please bring a laptop with you! The session will start with a short presentation introducing the topic and lead into a \~1hr long hands-on lab. We will provide an environment for you, so anything with the web browser from this century should be sufficient!
