This is a community meetup that is meant for those enthusiastic about learning DevOps and Cloud Computing. The focus of this meetup is on Essential Cloud Services. Participants from different experience levels are welcome. This meetup is meant for beginner to intermediate level participants.

Cloud-native is a way of approaching the development and deployment of applications in such a way that takes account of the characteristics and nature of the cloud - resulting in processes and workflows that fully take advantage of the platform.

Cloud native computing uses Open Source software stack to be:

1. Containerized - Each part (applications, processes, etc) is packaged in its own container. This facilitates reproducibility, transparency, and resource isolation.
2. Dynamically orchestrated - Containers are actively scheduled and managed to optimize resource utilization.
3. Microservices oriented - Applications are segmented into microservices. This significantly increases the overall agility and maintainability of applications.

In this session, we'll discuss how to get started with creating REST API using API Gateway service from AWS and serve it with AWS Lambda. If you want to try the hands-on examples, please bring your laptop and get AWS account (You can create a free AWS account using your debit/credit card).
