Engineering Manager
Dyspatch is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to build and scale our development team. Our engineering values are built on effective communication, predictable velocity, and critical thinking while maintaining a high-quality code base and a healthy team environment. Salary:
$100,000-$130,000

Skills and Experience we are looking for:
* Engineering experience. You’ve contributed significantly to a production codebase, solved challenging technical problems, and have learned a lot along the way.
* Software development process. You’re a process expert who’s familiar with multiple methodologies, their pros and cons, and when to apply them (and when to improvise). You are committed to measuring and improving project velocity without compromising software quality or team health.
* Team leadership. You’ve successfully managed, coached, and led teams in the past, as an engineering manager, tech lead, product manager, or similar.
* People management. You’ve enjoyed growing your past teams and helped those team members define and achieve growth goals.
Skills and Experience that are nice to have:
* You’ve built and grown high-performing, healthy engineering teams.
* You have defined and implemented engineering hiring practices.
* You have experience delivering highly-reliable software APIs.
* You’ve developed software with our tech stack: JavaScript, React, Go, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, AWS
In your first 3 months, you will...
* Transition to the role of manager for an engineering team of 4-6 engineers.
* Become an expert in our engineering process and find creative ways to improve it.
* Collaborate with company leaders to define areas of success and improvement.
* Report to executive leadership on project status, costs, and outcomes.
* Meet with members of your team to best understand their needs and communication styles and discuss the best way to support them in their success.
Within your first 12 months, you will...
* Manage performance reviews and career plans for engineers of all skill levels.
* Plan and execute multiple customer-facing engineering projects.
* Become an important part of our recruiting and hiring process.
* Improve our engineering practices to make the team, product, and company better.
* Coach and mentor aspiring engineering managers, both internally and externally.
