PHP Has Survived for 26 Years Because It Keeps Evolving

First, why is PHP still such a critical part of the web, when other programming languages and frameworks are seemingly more suited to the modern web?

As for The PHP Foundation, JetBrains wrote that the goal is to be “a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure the long life and prosperity of the PHP language.”

It wasn’t a programming language, although Lerdorf did add a scripting language to his toolset later that year.
