We heavily use Azure, so after a few years, we have quite good naming conventions and practices.I hope you will find it useful and you can build your own. Not to long time ago Microsoft published their Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure which is contains a naming and tagging conventions documentation. Here it is, this is quite good starting point to read.

If you deal with a lot of resources in the Azure portal it can cause mistakes if you couldn’t see the environment in the first place.

Naming is still hard, but I hope you will get some impression how do it right in your environment.
